Temcal Capsule contain the active ingredient calcitriol. It is used to reduce bone damage and form healthy bones in patients suffering from osteoporosis or bone disease due to kidney problems and dialysis. 

 

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to calcitriol or other vitamin D metabolites such as alfacalcidol and colecalciferol. Do not take any vitamin or food supplements containing vitamin D while taking this medicine. Do not consume more cheese or other milk products while taking this medicine.

 

Uses of Temcal Capsule:

Temcal Capsule are used in the treatment of:

• Bone disease in people with kidney problems known as renal osteodystrophy
• Weakening of the bones in women after menopause. (Post-menopausal osteoporosis)

Side Effects

Side Effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Although all medicines cause side effects; not everyone gets them.

 

Severe:

• Allergic reactions
• Hypercalcaemia: symptoms include loss of appetite, sluggishness etc.
• Urinary tract infection
• Increased levels of creatinine
• Mental illness with strange thoughts
• Condition where small bowel does not work (paralytic ileus)
• Deposition of calcium in skin
• Changes in rhythm of heartbeat

 

Common:

• Redness of the skin
• Weakness
• Sleepiness or drowsiness
• Constipation
• Pain in upper part of stomach
• Passing more urine than usual
• Vomiting
• Fever
