Rabies Antiserum Injection is composed of Rabies Antiserum. It is also called equine rabies immune globulin. It is indicated promptly after suspected exposure of a nonimmunized individual to the rabies virus. This formulation is prepared from the refined, concentrated, lyophilized serum of hyperimmunized and healthy horses repeatedly injected with the rabies virus
Rabies is an acute, progressive disease caused by the rabies virus belonging to the Rhabdoviridae family. It spreads from the saliva of the infected animals after bites or scratches. Though this infection is 100% fatal, it is 100% preventable with the implementation of timely measures and correct use of available vaccines, immunoglobulins or monoclonal antibodies
