Mesacol Suppository is an anti-inflammatory medicine used to treat a type of bowel disease known as ulcerative colitis. It is used in condition when the lining tissue of the inner rectum becomes inflamed (proctitis).

Mesacol Suppository helps to reduce symptoms such as diarrhea, bleeding and stomach pain by reducing inflammation in the bowel. It is taken by the back passage (rectal route) and should not be taken orally. It must be given under the supervision of a doctor or healthcare professional only. You must have to stay in a lying position for at least 15 minutes after the insertion of suppositories. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen.

How to use

Remove the wrapper from the suppository before inserting it. Keep lying down for about 15 minutes after insertion so that the suppository does not come out before it melts.
