Hepamerz Granules 5gm contains l-ornithine-l-aspartate which belongs to the group of medicines called hepatoprotective agent. It is used in the treatment of concomitant diseases and complications caused by deterioration of liver detoxification function, with symptoms of latent or severe hepatic encephalopathy and consciousness disorders such as precoma or coma.

L-ornithine-l-aspartate is made up of two amino acids called ornithine and aspartic acid. Both l-ornithine and l-aspartic acid, ensures hepatoprotective effect by decreasing the toxic load on liver, and by providing metabolic support for hepatic cells. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have severe liver disease, because your doctor might adjust the dose on an individual basis to avoid nausea and vomiting.

This medicine is well tolerated with minimal side effects. However, if you experience any unusual symptoms after taking this medicine, inform your doctor. Do not take this medicine if you have severe renal impairment, diabetes or fructose intolerance. Ask your doctor for advice. If high dose of this medicine is used, it is important to monitor the levels of urea both in the serum and urine to avoid toxicity. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
