Cefoprox 50mg Tablet DT is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefpodoxime. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It kills the bacteria, thereby stops the infection from spreading. Cefoprox 50 MG Tablet DT is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise this medicine alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections.

Cefoprox 50 mg Tablet DT has side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any side effects are seen for a longer period. Do not take this medicine if you are previously allergic to it. Cefoprox 50mg Tablet DT is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.

Cefoprox 50mg Tablet DT can be taken with food for better absorption. The dose of the tablet will be decided by your doctor based on the severity of your infection. For the ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Once the antibiotic is started, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Avoid unnecessary use of Cefoprox 50 mg Tablet DT as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics.

Cefoprox 50 mg Tablet DT effects may be delayed when taken with medications that reduce the production of stomach acids like antacids, proton pump inhibitors or H2 blockers. Therefore, take Cefoprox 50mg Tablet DT at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, before using Cefoprox 50 mg Tablet DT.
